  • You might need routine blood tests to check how the medicine is affecting your body.
  • Risperdal (risperidone) takes 4 to 6 weeks for its full effects on thoughts and mood.
  • Elderly people with dementia shouldn’t take Geodon (Ziprasidone).
  • You shouldn’t take Geodon (Ziprasidone) if you have a history of heart problems (slow heart rate, recent heart attack, heart failure, or heart rhythm problems). It’s also not safe to take if you have low potassium or magnesium, or are taking medicines that increase the risk of this happening (diuretics).
  • You'll need to get blood tests before you start taking Geodon (Ziprasidone).
  • It causes slightly less weight gain than similar medicines.
  • Can't take Geodon (Ziprasidone) capsules and injections at the same time. Capsules should be used instead of the injection as soon as possible.
