It reduces seizures by blocking certain types of nerve activity that regulate how your brain cells communicate with each other.Qudexy Xr (Topiramate) is an antiepileptic. Researchers don't know exactly how it works, but it seems to affect multiple parts of the brain to control seizures and migraines.

Kidneys and liver

  • Hepatitis and liver failure have been reported with Trileptal (Oxcarbazepine). However, this is very rare. Call your doctor right away if you start to have clay-colored stools, yellowing of the eyes or skin, dark urine, stomach pain, or if you are eating less than usual without trying to.
  • If you have kidney problems, your dose may need to be adjusted. Your doctor will check your kidney function regularly.
  • Qudexy Xr (Topiramate) may increase your risk for kidney stones. Stay well-hydrated to lower your risk.
  • A few people will get kidney stones.

  • Trileptal (Oxcarbazepine) may increase the risk of low sodium levels in the blood (hyponatremia). Watch out for symptoms including headache, difficulty concentrating, memory problems, confusion, weakness, and unsteadiness, which may lead to falls. Talk to a doctor right away before developing more serious symptoms, such as hallucination, fainting, coma, and death.
