  • Be prepared for bad headaches, stinky sweating and muscle twitches when you first take it (different for everyone of course but my doc didn't tell me about these things).

  • Only side effects: mild nausea & sleepiness; disappears with use. Ran out once; withdrawl IS TERRIBLE
  • Used to take 75mg morning and night, now just take 75mg in morning for depression and anxiety. Worked better than prozac. Citalopram had a bad effect on me. Have stopped using alcohol and feel much less depressed and anxious now.

  • If I ever took it late, I would get a terrible stomach ache that would last all day, no matter what I did. Only thing that helped was trying to sleep it off. Also killed my sex drive. Made me me more emotionally stable, but it felt flat.

  • I only get nauseous if I miss a dose by more than a couple hours. Missing a day means very deep depression. Worked better for me than Citalopram

  • Take it in the night if you can, it will make you sleepy. Always take with food at first, the nausea was really bad for the first few weeks

  • Started Venlafaxine as a substitute for Prozac which I had taken for 10+ years. It works well for me.

  • Not sure they work unless I take 300mg a day then all I want to do is sleep.

  • Not sure if I was on the wrong dose or didnt give it long enough to "kick in" but i had horrible experience switching from cipralex to effexor. cipralex made me so sleepy all the time and didnt seem to be helping with depression so switched to effexor. I had the worse insomnia, woke up constantly through the night and felt blurry all day. Ended up switching off effexor to Pristiq and adjusted way better. Only downfall is cost of pristiq super pricey but its helped a lot.
