Tips from our pharmacists
  • Inspect all household members for lice and eggs (nits) with a magnifying glass in bright light. Use a comb to lift and part the hair. Unlike dandruff, nits stick to hair.
  • Don't use a shampoo that contains a conditioner or use a conditioner alone since it interacts with Nix (Permethrin).
  • Begin to apply Nix (Permethrin) behind the ears and at the back of the neck. Leave it in for only 10 minutes and then rinse with warm water. Protect your eyes with a washcloth or towel.
  • If live lice are seen 7 days or more after the first treatment, then a second treatment should be given.
