  • It worked but the weight gain, sexual side effects and the sleep-induced state might not have been worth it....enjoyed the relief of depression, but am pre-diabetic and terrified of the weight gain pushing me over the edge.

  • 20+yr user. Sexual side effects have been mitigated by taking med. holiday (ie, skip 1 dose every 5 days or so). Other side effects also resolved over time (years). Allows me to think rational/logical=normalized my anxiety to manageable lvl

  • Decreases hot flashes; now I only get warm occasionally. However, have a headache for part of most days, have gained weight and have no sex drive or orgasms anymore. It's nice to have few hot flashes, but side effects may not be worth it

  • Took Paxil for a little over two years. Changed my life. Was deeply depressed. Third week in I started feeling better. Life doesn't have to be so painful. No side effects for me.

  • Made orgasms more difficult, but saved me from crippling panic attacks. Worth it, but only if you really need to be on it.

  • Paxil lifted me out of a deep depression. But coming off of it is next to impossible with severe side effects. So now I feel like I'm trapped into taking it.

  • Like all SSRI type meds, it's prone to stop being effective after very long term use (many years). Had to stop and switch to another. Will be switching back soon as the other has stopped being effective. I did not notice any side effects the first time, so don't expect any this time.
