  • I only take one medication and its Xanax. I am 64 year old female with PTSD. I wake up and my pulse is 127 without xanax. Yes it's addicting cause it works. Last panic attack didn't have my Xanax on hand, ended up in hospital for 3 days
    Taken for: Choose or type
  • This can become habit forming and is not for ongoing use. I had some friends that were taking it daily, I only as needed. Also not really for sleep, it is not long lasting to sustain.
    Taken for: Panic disorder
    Duration taken: Just as needed
  • It is the ONLY thing that stops the racing thoughts so I can fall asleep. I have tried ambien, lunesta ativan, and others over the years. No hangover if you take less than.10

    Taken for: Anxiety
Duration taken: A year or so
  • I found the smallest dose that worked for me and take it only when I really, really need it.

  • I have been very careful taking Xanax due to danger of dependency. I only take it during severe panic attacks or Anxiety. A 30 day script usually lasts me 90 days. I also practice meditation which helps greatly.
    Taken for: Anxiety
Duration taken: Two years or more
  • Works rather fast (< than 30 mins.), so no need to take Xanax to anticipate an anxiety attack. Knowing you have a tablet on you is often enough. It does make you feel rather sleepy sometimes, depending on the dose.
    Taken for: Anxiety
Duration taken: Two years or more
  • Try lower dosages first. You may be surprised about how little it takes. Because it is quick acting I can wait and take it only when I really need it.

  • Worth the drowsiness and zombie-like affect it gives me when I'm suffering from a full-blown panic attack or have had a few days of insomnia. Must be careful not to use it regularly because it's very addictive.

  • I have been taking no more than 2mg daily now over 15 years for sleep disorder and panic. In 15 years you'd think i'd need higher and higher doses to deliver the same effect, but I don't. Xanax has allowed me to live a reasonably normal life given my genetic circumstances. I have to take blood pressure medication daily for the rest of my life too and have to live with that fact. I apply the same rule for Xanax -- the benefits, in my case, have outweighed the risks so far.

  • I had no idea your body would need more of it in order to work, if you continue to use it.
