  • Mirapex (pramipexole) comes in extended-release form to help reduce side effects and ease administration.
  • Available as a generic so it will be cheaper than similar brand medications.
  • It combines three medicines into one pill so you don't have to take so many pills daily.
  • Stalevo (carbidopa / levodopa / entacapone) is available as a generic.
Downsides
  • Mirapex (pramipexole) can be used by itself, but is usually used in combination with other medications to treat Parkinson's.
  • Not the best choice if you have kidney problems.
  • You cannot suddenly stop taking Mirapex (pramipexole) if you have been taking it for a long time.
  • You would first start by taking Stalevo (carbidopa / levodopa / entacapone) as two different pills, carbidopa/levodopa and entacapone, before you get switched over to Stalevo (carbidopa / levodopa / entacapone).
  • It's less customizable since there are only a few fixed combinations available.
