Treats HIV infections.

Triumeq (abacavir / dolutegravir / lamivudine) is a 3-in-1 tablet and is one of the first choices used in treating HIV infections. Your doctor will test you to see if you're at risk for developing an allergic reaction to Triumeq (abacavir / dolutegravir / lamivudine) before prescribing it.

Treats HIV infection

Odefsey (emtricitabine / rilpivirine / tenofovir) is a convenient 3-in-1 medication used to treat HIV infections. It's similar to Complera, but contains a newer HIV drug which has shown to cause less harmful effects on your kidneys and bones.

Upsides
  • One of the first choice medications used to treat HIV.
  • Can take once daily and with or without food.
  • Triumeq (abacavir / dolutegravir / lamivudine) contains three different HIV drugs in one tablet.
  • Odefsey (emtricitabine / rilpivirine / tenofovir) combines three medications into one tablet, so it's easy to take.
  • Odefsey (emtricitabine / rilpivirine / tenofovir) is currently the smallest combination HIV tablet available.
  • Odefsey (emtricitabine / rilpivirine / tenofovir) works similar to Complera, but is less likely to cause harmful side effects on your kidneys and bones.
  • Odefsey (emtricitabine / rilpivirine / tenofovir) might be an option for HIV treatment if other HIV drug combinations haven't worked for you.
Downsides
  • Can increase your risk of heart attack, especially if you have high blood pressure, high cholestorol, diabetes, or if you smoke.
  • Triumeq (abacavir / dolutegravir / lamivudine) is not recommended if you have liver problems or poor kidney health.
  • Some people have had severe allergic reactions while taking Triumeq (abacavir / dolutegravir / lamivudine). Your doctor will test you for any possible risk of reaction before starting.
  • Odefsey (emtricitabine / rilpivirine / tenofovir) has to be taken with a light meal.
  • Cannot be taken with proton pump inhibitors (PPI) like Prilosec or Prevacid. If you need an acid reducer, try taking an antacid like calcium carbonate either 2 hours before or 4 hours after Odefsey (emtricitabine / rilpivirine / tenofovir). Drugs like Pepcid or Zantac (H2RAs) may also be an option, but these should be taken 12 hours before or 4 hours after Odefsey (emtricitabine / rilpivirine / tenofovir).
  • Not recommended for patients who have a significantly high level of viral cells or have a very low level of immune cells.
  • Can cause abnormal heart rhythm.
