Downsides
  • Viread (tenofovir) can't be used on its own to treat HIV infection.
  • Not recommended for patients with kidney damage.
  • Can weaken your bones.
  • Might worsen hepatitis B infections if you suddenly stop taking it.
  • Can increase your risk of heart attack, especially if you have high blood pressure, high cholestorol, diabetes, or if you smoke.
  • Triumeq (abacavir / dolutegravir / lamivudine) is not recommended if you have liver problems or poor kidney health.
  • Some people have had severe allergic reactions while taking Triumeq (abacavir / dolutegravir / lamivudine). Your doctor will test you for any possible risk of reaction before starting.
