    • Age 24 years or younger

    Anafranil (clomipramine), like other anti-depressants, may increase the risk of suicidal thoughts or behavior, especially in children, teens, and young adults. Watch for worsening depression or any unusual changes in mood or behavior, especially during the first few months of treatment or when your dose changes. Caregivers and family members should watch out for these behavioral changes. Let your doctor know right away if you experience any of these thoughts. Anafranil (clomipramine) is not approved for use by children except for those being treated for obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD).

    This is a black box warning. The FDA requires this warning when there is a significant risk of serious or life-threatening effects that anyone taking the drug should consider.
