Alcohol

Reviewed Effexoron 6/11/2017Venlafaxine and a generous amount of alcohol (as in a night of partying) may cause a state of hypomania with very impolitic behaviour.

  • Not worth it
    Big hassle
Reviewed Effexoron 5/15/2017Do not use alcohol while taking this drug - I had 3 drinks one evening while on this, which normally would make me tipsy, but fine. I nearly ended up in the E.R. because I vomited so much (about 30 times in 2 hours), and I ended up feeling horribly depressed and in terrible stomach and head pain. Also made my anxiety significantly worse.

Food
  • Not sure
    Some hassle
Reviewed Effexoron 3/19/2017Try to take it everyday at the same time, with food. I took it at lunch everyday. If you forget or miss a dose you get really light headed and dizzy in waves, over and over till about two hours after you take your next dose. If you miss it by 6 hours, expect to start feeling it.

The "bings" in my head were the first reminders that I was late wirth a dose. Less anxiety actually improved my sex life. Started taking for hot flashes after chemo but noticed less social anxiety so still taking 37.5 dosage.

Reviewed Effexoron 6/26/2017The first week or so you might feel very odd. Effexor has greatly helped my depression (like 75% gone, mood usually prett good and stable) and many other meds didn't help. My side effects are constipation and drowsiness so I take it at night and eat more fiber. it's scary how if you miss a dose, only 12 hours later you can be withdrawing. Don't get stuck without it, don't even think about missing two doses, you'll feel like you're dying.
