  • Alkeran (melphalan) can decrease the levels of many different blood cells. You might feel more tired, be at a higher risk of infections, and bleed or bruise more easily. Your doctor will do regular blood tests, or give you antibiotics to protect you from infections.

    This is a black box warning. The FDA requires this warning when there is a significant risk of serious or life-threatening effects that anyone taking the drug should consider.
