Risks and Warnings for Monurol (fosfomycin)

  • As with all antibiotics, Monurol (fosfomycin) can cause diarrhea. Taking yogurt or probiotic supplements a few hours after you take the medicine may help. Some people can develop a severe form of diarrhea that happens a few weeks after you take Monurol (fosfomycin). However, this is rare. The symptoms include severe stomach pain with very loose or bloody stools. Talk to your doctor right away if this happens.
