Risks and Warnings for Olysio (simeprevir)

    • History of hepatitis B infection

    If you have ever had hepatitis B, it can come back or a current infection can get worse while taking Olysio (simeprevir). Before you start Olysio (simeprevir), you need to be tested for hepatitis B. Tell your doctor if you ever had hepatitis B or received treatment for it in the past.

    This is a black box warning. The FDA requires this warning when there is a significant risk of serious or life-threatening effects that anyone taking the drug should consider.

Interactions
  • Olysio (simeprevir) can interact with other medicines that can stop it from working. Make sure your doctor and pharmacist know all of the medicines you're taking, including prescription, over-the-counter, and supplements. Your doctor might have to change your other medicines while you're taking Olysio (simeprevir).

Food
  • Take 1 Olysio (simeprevir) capsule each day with food. Take Olysio (simeprevir) around the same time each day. It is very important that you do not miss a dose. Don't make up for missed doses by taking two doses at the same time.
Kidneys and liver
  • Depending on your type of hepatitis C infection, you'll take Olysio (simeprevir) for either 12 or 24 weeks. Don't stop early or make any changes without first talking to your doctor.
