    • Higher risk if:
    • Liver damage

    People on Tasmar (tolcapone) have suffered liver damage, some to the point of needing a liver transplant or dying. This is more likely to happen in people who've had liver damage in the past. Your doctor will do regular blood tests to make sure your liver is healthy. If you don't notice any changes in your Parkinson's after taking Tasmar (tolcapone) for 3 weeks, talk to your doctor right away since you will be switched to a new medicine. If you've had liver damage in the past, talk to your doctor since you won't be able to take Tasmar (tolcapone).

    This is a black box warning. The FDA requires this warning when there is a significant risk of serious or life-threatening effects that anyone taking the drug should consider.
